It all starts with having good ingredients in the house. These can and will change throughout the year depending on where you live and what is available. The feast in the picture below was created after a trip to our local farmers market. There was no pre-conceived notion as to what we were going to be able to purchase but look what Marsha created. A roasted organic chicken, heirloom tomato layered with mozzarella and basil, roasted figs and squash, and fresh green beans cooked with mushrooms.
I agree with Marsha that it starts with having good items in the house. Marsha and I will sometimes shop together, and sometimes I will do the shopping. Before I met Marsha, I would plan my meals for a few days, then go and buy the ingredients. Now, I go and buy what looks good and fresh, then I can watch Marsha create something fantastic from them. Her creativity is part of my motivation to keep up with our container and herb garden. There is nothing like a salad made from fresh picked mixed greens and herbs.
